So what is Bright Sparks?

Bright Sparks focuses on building leadership skills and attributes through workshops, site visits and mentoring. 

We believe that these are the key attributes that make a great leader:

  • teamwork and collaboration   
  • resilience and courage   
  • storytelling   
  • vision and purpose   
  • ethical leadership    
  • conflict resolution and negotiation    
  • intercultural communication    
  • agility and entrepreneurial mindset    
  • empathy & emotional intelligence   
What does it involve?

  • Workshops in Australia - Nov-Dec 2016 (expected 2-3 full day workshops)   
    • Workshop 1: Thursday November 24, 5:30-8:30  
    • Workshop 2: Friday November 25, All Day   
  • Meetings with your mentors over the four months (3-6 hours)  
  • Pre-departure session (half day in January)   
  • 2 weeks in San Francisco - Feb 5-18, 2017  
  • Workshop on return (one day)   
  • Other activities as finalised 

Who is the program for? 

  • Do you think you've got what it takes to be a leader?   
  • Are you passionate?    
  • Are you interested in the world around you?    
  • Do you want to build your network in Australia and the USA 

What does the program cost?

  • The cost of flights and accommodation are covered by RMIT  
  • Participants are responsible for incidental costs 

When is the closing date?

Applications close on September 30, 2016 at 11:15 pm.

Then what happens?

All applications will be assessed and the top 30 applications will go through to the second round. All second round applicants will be interviewed.

Who is eligible?

This program is open to RMIT women who are any of the following: 

  • staff 
  • students 
  • alumni (who graduated at the end of 2013 to now)
